The best promotional product is the one that survives the drive home. Here are nine that reliably do, with real starting prices, organized by what you can spend per person.

Under $5 per person

1. Pens — from $2.96

Unglamorous and undefeated. A pen gets used until the ink runs out, and it is the only item on this list you can hand out by the hundred without thinking about budget. Pad printing is the standard decoration.

2. Badge lanyards and keyrings — from $3.18

At a conference, a branded lanyard is worn on someone's chest for three days. If you are a sponsor, this is the highest-visibility-per-dollar item that exists.

$5–$15 per person

3. Caps — from $1.70

Blank caps start remarkably low, and an embroidered cap reads as more expensive than it is. Embroidery starts at a 12-piece minimum, and 3D puff is available if you want the graphic to stand off the front.

4. Totes and bags — from $2.00

The single most-reused promotional item. A tote handed out at a trade show gets carried around the show floor for the rest of the day, in front of everyone. Bags and totes range from $2.00 up through backpacks, duffels and coolers.

5. A5 notebooks — from $7.04

Sits on a desk. Gets opened in meetings. Works especially well in onboarding kits and for training events where people are actually taking notes.

The highest-retention item on the list. A good tumbler is used daily for years. Choose laser engraving over printing on metal drinkware — engraving still looks right in year three, a cheap print does not survive the dishwasher.

Quoted individually, because the point is the combination: an embroidered polo, a tumbler and a notebook in a branded box with an insert card. How to pick, in three questions

  1. What is your budget per person? Start here, not with the product. It eliminates most of the catalog immediately.
  2. Will they carry it home or throw it away? Bulky, low-quality items get abandoned in the hotel room. Small and useful, or large and genuinely good — nothing in between.
  3. What is your hard date? Standard production is 10–14 business days after proof approval. Some warehouse-stocked items move faster; custom or overseas-produced items take longer. Give the date first and only look at items that can make it.

Promotional product minimums are set by the manufacturer, not by us, and vary by item. As a rough guide: pens and lanyards typically start around 100–250 pieces, drinkware, bags and notebooks around 24–100, and tech items around 25–50.
